Wrap up warm kids, winter is here.

Well winter is truly here. It has been snowing nearly everyday for the past week here in blighty. It was nice for the first couple of days but after walking became treacherous I had to gracefully bow out of leaving the house other than for work and school. Plus i've been incredibly ill this week and haven't got nearly anything that needed to be done completely finished. least of all the revision that I am meant to have done for the exam I have at various intervals this week.

However, this has driven me completely insane at myself, trust me, i'm mentally hitting myself as we speak. Therefore, organisation is the name of the game. Not only do I have all of this to do but i'm determined to make this into a fully functioning blog instead of a sporadic rambling board and to do this i'm going to combine the two. 'How are you going to do this?!' I hear you shout. Well dear friends i'm going to post a 'To-do' list on this here blog and check it off as I go, in turn, giving a regular blog at the same time. Yay, simple.

Back to the reason I even started this, fashion. Topic: street style. Along with my new 'To-do list' strategy, i'm instigating "Street Chic Saturdays". This will consist of my attempts to accost people on a regular basis that, to me, look cool and in turn, I will show you on here (told you I was getting organised).

For today you are going to have to settle for some lust. Bag lust. Hair lust. Life lust; you get the picture.

The Runaways Pictures, Images and Photos

After watching 'The Runaways', my love for Joan Jett has been successfully rekindled. The black leather and home made band t-shirts combined with the blonde hair, lingerie and attitude made me want to be in an all girl rock band again. The flares and biker jacket are definitely coming back out on Monday for college.

A word to Taylor Momsen: You are not Cherie Currie. Stop trying so hard.

Crash and Burn. Young and Loaded.

I have been living in harem pants, smoking, drinking countless cups of coffee, with incense burning away in the background and "Nananananana" by My Chemical Romance on repeat. I have decided that these are my favourite things to do and be around in the world. Now i'm sitting in my boyfriends slightly darkened room listening to Frankie and The Heartstrings. Life can get no better then this.

Incense and cigarette smoke.

My lack of posting has become ridiculous this summer. To anybody who reads my blog I am truly sorry. These past few weeks have been some of the most testing I have ever had and the malaise has only just started to wear off.

Getting my A-Level results meant having to change the plans of a lifetime and trying to literally sort my life out has taken up most of my time and energy. University will have to wait till this time next year. On the plus side it has made me re-evaluate some of my priorities and has made me realise I have some people that are truly amazing in my life and one year down the line i'm happy to say that my boyfriend is still one of them.

But I on my days off I have managed to get a job at my local Topshop and visit Summer Sundae Festival in Leicester with a few of the best people ever. Although everybody seemed to possibly be the same person, I have never seen so many pairs of stonewashed denim shorts in my life, I saw some people with amazing style and had my camera not been broken, I would have captured them all for you to see. Otherwise here are a few snaps from the festival and a few other events that my friends managed to capture:

So you see it's not all bad. I will be here more often from now on with any luck. I'll still be smoking, still be addicted to caffeine and probably still dress badly but with any luck I may be happier.
Much love.
Peace Out.

Cause' anyone can be a model now.

Yeah I know what you are thinking; why is she not gracing the cover of Vogue right this very second? Worry not friends, they offered, I turned them down; Anna Wintour realised that I don't respond to brown-nosing.

Although posing for some photographs is fun, I think that you get the best results when they are unplanned.

Classifications with Coffee.

Every girl is different? Correct.
Every girl has a slightly different body? Correct.
Every girl is an idividual? Correct.
We can't classify them or put them into categories? INCORRECT.

I have devised a system to put every girl into a category and my inspiration? Starbucks. I was thinking about this while I was cleaning my teeth and admiring my new jumpsuit. Now everybody as well as myself know that I am not a thin girl, i'm not huge but I am not a waif. I am not a biscotti more like a chocolate HobNob. This got me thinking and here I present to you, the girl classification system a la Charlotte Anderson.

On another note its my 18th birthday on Saturday and I will be rocking a new jumpsuit and a pair of peep-toe suede wedges from topshop; hopefully there will be pictures. Lets channel that Bohemian,70's rock vibe this summer.

Androdgeny Ahoy-Hoy.

Mens fashion is something which is meant to be admired. The components for a suit are so accurately made and then constructed. Old fashioned tailoring is, in a way, its own art form.

My love of it came about when I was about 6 years old and my mum stared to expose me to pre 20th century love novels and the reniessence dress style first entered my conciousness. Not everybody can be your Mr. Darcy but perhaps you can be your own modern day version.

Chloe Sevigny channels feminine androgeny perfectly. Her balance between femme and masculine is on the line of genius and personally I think this is done cleverly by her use of fabrics and accessories.

Stay Gold.

I love that phrase, 'Stay Gold'. So many meanings in such a casual sense and I love it. I always prefer gold to silver, there is something about it that appeals to me more than silver.

Give me that gold vinyl top, a pair of leather high waisted shorts and these Jeffrey Campbell shoes: Photobucket
And I would be truly happy.

I'm also a fan of golden hair at the minute, circa Brigette Bardot. This is a look I think is done well by the Olsen Twins and Blake Lively.

She is so gorgeous it makes me sick. Personally I believe she is the modern day Brigette
All have them have something quintessentially vintage about them, making them muses for the future, if I could rock the look, I so would. I'm lusting after long tousled hair at the minute, should I do it or carry on rocking the white crop?

We Are Your Friends.

We love the pub. I mean, we really love the pub. If you ever need to find one of our group and they aren't at home, at university or with their significant other, then you can bet that they will be at The Orange Tree in Loughborough.

This is why we love it when our friend's band plays at events in this very venue.

Unauthorised Absence and Candy Themed Dreams.

I'm am incredibly sorry for my lack of updates recently. Exam stress is getting the better of me but my last one is next week so fingers crossed until then!
Photobucket
This is what revision has done to me.

In an attempt to stop some of my bad habits, I am trying to stop biting my nails. I have done it ever since I was tiny and to be honest, i'm fed up with my nails constantly looking disgusting. So to help, I have been painting them a baby plue and candyfloss pink and alternating to keep it interesting and this is where my inspiration is coming from this summer I think.

I want lots of light, floaty, lacy pink and blue items and then some studs and leather to go over the top. Plus my hair is going back to candyfloss pink this summer and the new Jeffrey Campbell 'Lita's' will be mine.

Don't think I didn't hear the collective intake of breath then

Afterthought: After this Thursday there will be more timely posts, much less sporadic. I just need to get exams out of the way first.
Oh and there will be more outfits of my own up on here but I haven't had the time or mental capacity to take any, let alone to fiddle around with my camera attempting to get the memory card out.
Thankyou for comments guys, it means more then you will ever know; cookies are coming your way (literal, not internet haha...i'll just shut up now).

Wednesday 9 June 2010

Another day, some more bag-lust.

Torrential rain has plagued my life today, it barely stopped. I'm so stressed about exams that i'm not sleeping and exhausted does not even cut it.
However, on the plus side, I got a very cute dress from Asda*. That makes me sound scabby but never fault a good dress brought to you at 'Asda price'. There will be pictures to come.

Now to make me feel infinitely better, I have been looking at the wonderful creations of one Mr. Alexander Wang. They certainly cheered me up, despite the fact that I do not have the funds to purchase anything he has laid his pretty hands on. One of my favourites at the moment, I would sell my soul, possibly my own mother, for the leopard print 'Diego'.

Photobucket

Don't get me wrong, I would sell my limbs for a pair of his shoes but the 'Diego' is something I have coveted for a long time now and if I get ever get enough money, I will hunt one down and make it mine (imagine a lioness in the savannah, I am the lioness, the bag is the gazelle, minus the blood it would be exactly the same).
If anyone out there in cyberspace has one spare, give it to me please?
I will do anything.

*FYI: Asda is a supermarket that sells the best clothes a supermarket has ever sold. Thankyou.

Wowza.

Now Katy Perry has been getting a lot of backlash for her MTV Movie Awards dress and hair combo from last Sunday. Personally I love it. I would kill small children for that dress and a body that would look that amazing in it and kudos for the cobalt blue hair. My number one pin-up next to Dita Von Teese, I applaud her for showing off what god gave her. If he had given me that,I might be into religion right now.

I would say with rhinestones and glitter no girl could go wrong but then I saw Lindsay Lohan's jumpsuit disaster; Joan Jett would not approve of this in the slightest.

Maybe the SCRAM bracelet may have drawn attention away from the minor camel-toe?
Jumpsuit by Pamella Roland.

As for Kristin Stewart, her sour puss face was unusually not there and pulling off the best hair I have ever seen her walk the red carpet with. She almost looked, dare I say it? Pretty stunning? Although part of me thinks the dress is heinous, I think it might just have been ill fitting. The shoes are love though.

Katy gets my vote for best dressed everytime.
What do you think?

Non-Sunny Summers Day.

Now today was grey and that is the only way to describe it. It wasn't warm, it wasn't cold and I hated every second of it. When the weather is like that I try my best to not dress for the way I feel, else I would be wrapped in a black shroud. So I made an effort to reflect a more sunny attitude.

Channelling Alexa Chung, Fearne Cotton, Mary Kate Olsen and the gang was my aim, whether it worked or not is to be seen but I liked the result; even if i'm not a waif.

I have always been the kind of person that gravitates towards touching things rather than just looking. With clothes, texture takes precedent over colour, shape or structure; all of these following behind. I'm a leather and lace kind of girl; mixing the inexplicably feminine with the undoubtedly masculine. I'm all for pretty things with rough edges; that has always gone for people too. If it doesn't match, if it just shouldn't work but it just does, I will be there in a heartbeat.
